Give Art & Give Back is a charity auction created in 2019 by Educambio and artist Armando Mesías with the goal of funding the project "La Casa Azul de Siloé."
Over the years, Give Art & Give Back has provided quality educational opportunities for more than 100 children in Comuna 20 in Cali, Colombia, proving that art is a gift that can reframe the history of communities.
La Casa Azul de Siloé is a project created by Educambio as part of the Espacios de Transformación program, aimed at strengthening the emotional and social skills of children and young people between the ages of 4 and 17 from the “La Capilla” sector in the Lleras Camargo neighborhood of Comuna 20 in Cali, better known as Siloé. This area is home to more than 100,000 people, but only 4% of the population has access to technical or higher education.
The project is characterized as the only safe learning space in the area, and it has represented an invaluable opportunity for training, reintegration into the educational system, skills development, and the acquisition of new abilities for the children and youth of this community. The interest in promoting this initiative arises from a diagnosis that revealed the need to implement innovative education strategies through art and play for the children of Comuna 20, who have limited opportunities for recreational activities in a context of vulnerability.
The fourth edition of Give Art & Give Back will take place on December 5, 2024, at Casa Obeso Mejía. This city event will feature more than 14 artists who have joined this cause. The doors will open at 4:30 PM for the exhibition of the artworks, and the auction will begin at 7:00 PM.
100% of the funds raised by Give Art & Give Back and any voluntary donations from the event will be allocated to the maintenance and funding of the pedagogical activities at La Casa Azul.
